The Indian Golfers Society (IGS) marked another important milestone last weekend as it hosted its first-ever tournament at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club. The tournament brought together a field of 92 players for a memorable day of competition and camaraderie at the iconic golfing venue.
Set against the backdrop of Saadiyat Beach, the IGS Challenge reflected everything the society stands for: a love for golf combined with meaningful networking, a motto that has defined the society since its inception nearly three decades ago.
The competition produced strong performances across all categories. In the Elite category, Arkesh Bhatia emerged victorious with a gross score of one over par, underlining the high standard of play on the day. Arjun Khanna took honours in Division A, with Nikhil Kohli winning Division B. Satnam Kaur topped the Ladies’ division with an impressive performance, while Mohammed Darwish claimed the Invitee title.
Backed by valued partners
Beyond the scorecards, the event carried added significance thanks to the backing of IGS’s partners and supporters. Pernod Ricard, Nexus Insurance, BMW, Taj, Brain Performance, Viya Golf, Cellar Advisory, and the Golf Superstore played key roles in elevating the tournament experience.
The Golf Superstore reinforced its support by presenting IGS-branded Titleist duffel bags, a gesture warmly received by members and winners alike. Nexus Insurance continued its association with IGS, reflecting the strong relationships the society has built within the UAE’s corporate and sporting communities.
Founded in 1996, the Indian Golfers Society today has a membership of over 140 high-net-worth individuals, professionals, and senior executives. Its season traditionally begins with the Indian Independence Golf Cup and concludes with an Annual Dinner, alongside regular tournaments and international golfing trips exclusively for members.
The Saadiyat Beach event followed closely on the heels of the IGS Independence Day Cup, reaffirming the society’s momentum early in the season and its ability to blend competitive golf with first-class hospitality. For IGS, this inaugural outing at Saadiyat was not just another tournament, but a clear statement of intent as it continues to grow as one of the UAE’s most vibrant golfing communities.
